History of the West Liberty
PD
Our partial research into the
city archives shows that the West Liberty Police Department may have been founded in January 11, 1902,
when B. M. Carr elected Marshal of the
Town of West Liberty. Along with Carr, James H. Burns, James A.
Lacy, S.W. Cecil and Menifee Turner were elected as Trustees. Also
in our limited research showed that the first WLPD Police Chief may have
been Clyde
Caskey, who took oath on October 19, 1951. Over the
years, the police fleet has grown to serve the town it protects.
