Recent investigation into female individual passing a
fraudulent payroll check at Save a Lot here in West Liberty has led to Betty Sue
Jones of
Lexington
Ky.
being charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument.
Investigation has disclosed that Mrs. Jones is the same individual who
committed similar crimes in and was a fugitive from several different police
jurisdictions throughout central Kentucky and Southern Ohio. We received several
tips. As well as notification of a similar looking female individual committing
similar crimes in other areas throughout KY after the story aired on WKYT
Lexington news and was published in the Licking Valley Courier.
The identification of Mrs. Jones was a result of contact with News Media,
KSP Intelligence, Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC), and
photos of the suspect along with physical descriptors being emailed to several
police jurisdictions in
Kentucky
in an attempt to locate and identify the female captured on surveillance video
passing the fraudulent check.
Betty Jones 54 who was currently residing in
Lexington
KY
was identified as a possible match to bulletins received by Lexington Metro
Police Detectives from West Liberty Police Department Investigators. Ms. Jones
was being sought in connection to a 2008 theft case being investigated by Metro
Detectives. Her information was released to Crime Stoppers which resulted in her
arrest on August 11th. Detectives were able to provide current
photographs of Ms. Jones, who was identified by victims here in
West Liberty
. After being identified Ms. Jones was charged with Criminal Possession of a
Forged Instrument by West Liberty Police Department on August 14th.
Ms. Jones is currently being held in The Fayette County Detention Center
awaiting charges from several jurisdictions.
