The WLPD's First Annual Police -VS- Fire Charity
Basketball Game to raise money to provide underprivileged children with
presents for Christmas that was held Friday, December 7, 2007, was a tremendous
success. When donations that were taken up from local businesses and individuals were added to
admissions, concessions and donations from attendees, the funds that
were raised almost totaled $2100.00, greatly exceeding our goal of
$500.00.
The game pushed all players to their limits and was
enjoyed by all who attended. The ending score was Law Dogs 43,
Smoke Eaters 37.
We would like to thank all the players, referees Mark
Easterling and Patrick Smith, volunteer coaches Mayor Robert Nickell and
WLFD Assistant Chief David Conley, all donating individuals and
businesses, all attendees and volunteer workers at the ballgame, Morgan
County High School, Licking Valley Courier, and WLKS.
