West Liberty Police Department received a call for service that there had been
nine vehicles vandalized and broken into the previous night. Preliminary
estimated of the damage are up to a thousand dollars or more for each
vehicle. This occurred at the Morgan County School Bus Garage parking
area. All the victims were school bus drivers whom have to leave vehicles
parked overnight.
Later in the day bus garage employees report a vehicle owned by the Morgan
County School Board stolen.
Senior Patrolman Michael Zach Haney, acting on information received from
citizens, was able to locate the stolen vehicle which had been burned, and to
develop a suspect. The suspect, Joshua Stevens, age 19 of West Liberty,
was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Criminal Mischief
1st Degree, all three felony charges. Other arrests and charges are
pending.
