Sergeant Scott Adkins of the West Liberty Police Department graduated the Academy of Police Supervision at the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, Kentucky on May 25th, 2007.  Sergeant Adkins is the first West Liberty Officer to attend the Academy and brings additional standards of professional expectations to his agency.

The Academy of Police Supervision is a three week course designed to participate in lectures, class assignments and scenario based exercises that are designed to enhance the student's ability to perform at the supervisor's level in their agency.

Curriculum topics include:  Managing Change, Problem Solving/Decision Making, Ethics, Monitoring Officer Performance, Conflict resolution, Written Communications, Legal Issues, Critical Incidents, Crime Analysis, Role of the Supervisor, Situational Leadership, Interpersonal Communications, Small Unit Budgeting, Team Building Exercises, Public Speaking, and Discipline Process.
