Traffic stop leads to theft of money from pop
machines arrest. Early Friday morning Officer Paul Perkins stopped
a 1991 blue Ford Taurus for an obstructed windshield violation.
When he checked the operators drivers license Senior Communications Officer
Jackie Mayberry went one step further to check into the individuals
background and discovered that he had several convictions for breaking
into pop machines. Senior Telecommunicator Mayberry alerted Officer
Perkins of this information which led to Officer Perkins obtaining
consent to search the vehicle where he discovered several hundred
dollars in change and one dollar bills as well as tools used to open pop
machines. Arrested were:

Gregory Doan 43 of Annville, KY

and Susan Miller 49 of East
Bernstadt
,
KY.
Both were charged with Possession of Burglary Tools. Further
investigation into these individuals by Officer Perkins and Assistant
Chief Wayne Lewis led to Arrest Warrants being obtained for the pop
machine break-ins that occurred last month at West Liberty IGA.
In connection Sheriff Mickey Whitt is also investigating a pop
machine break in believed to have occurred early Friday morning at Allen
Tire Center just west of city limits that reportedly netted thieves
around 25 dollars. This theft was reported by Deputy Jailer
Lowell Adkins who had gone to check area pop machines after the pair was
arrested. Sheriff Whitt and Deputy Jailer Adkins also assisted
Officer Perkins in his investigation.
