taking employment applications for Police Officer.

21 years of age, possess a high
school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of oral board
interview, drug screening, polygraph examination, a
successful background investigation and submit to departmental dress and
appearance code, pass Peace Officer Professional Standards.
General Duties: Patrols the City on foot and in cruiser during
assigned shifts enforcing federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
Responds to all calls received during shift, attends to their
disposition, and prepares accurate reports. Issues court citations
for violations; testifies and produces evidence in court when necessary.
Makes arrests and transports prisoners. Provides police protection
at public functions. Controls traffic at school crossings,
accidents, fires, parades, funerals, etc. May operate Breathalyzer
and/or radar equipment. Secures the scene at crimes and accidents,
conducts preliminary investigations, gathers evidence, interviews
witnesses, and prepares accurate reports. Performs investigative
duties when necessary. Provides security for businesses and homes
as requested. Assists in emergency situations; may administer
first aid. Issues parking violations. Attends mandatory
continuing education classes.
